FAQ's for ClearProg

1. Can one delete the autocompleting entries of the IE under NT/W2k/XP?
Yes, starting from version 1.4.0 these entries can be deleted also under NT/W2k/XP. However one needs to have Admin rights. If the appropriate rights should not be present, then this option is deactivated in ClearProg.

2. I cannot indicate parameters in the characteristics of the linkage in the field a goal. The message always comes: The indicated name is invalid. What can be wrong?
Here it is to be noted that between the file name of the ClearProgs and the first diagonal stroke for the parameters a blank must stand:
C:\Programme\ClearProg\ClearProg.exe /all

3.With the deletion of the process of the Internet Explorer, I receive an error 430 (class does not support automation or interface)

That can be because of the fact that certain DLL's of the IE was overwritten by other program installations.

Often here the repair function of the Internet Explorer helps. In addition over system control - > software the Internet Explorer select and on adding/removing click. Then a menu window, in which one can start the repair function.

4. Why are the implementing entries in the starting menu after deletion still present?
These entries are only removed after a Windows Neustart/Benutzerwechsel from this list.

5. If I delete the typed URLs of the address line of the Internet Explorer, these are nevertheless still present after the deletion. What can be wrong?
With Windows XP these entries are stored probably additionally in index.dat for the process.
This file one knows by option (menu - > extras - > Internet Explorer - > index.dat empty) with the Windows start empties to leave. However this function is only to Usern with Admin rights at the disposal.
Thus activate this option and the process delete. Then these entries should be gone with the next Windows start .

6. Why isn't the URLs of the t-on-line-Browsers 5,0 deleted in use of ClearProg?
T-Online changed the memory procedure of these URLs in relation to the Browser version 4,5.
These data are stored now coded in a file, so that a deletion of these entries is no longer possible.
The deletion of the entire file is also no solution, since in this also the attitudes of the t-on-line-Browsers as well as the favorites are stored.
Since T-Online understandably abandons no further information for the solution of my problem, we will probably have to live thereby.

Manually one can remove this URLs however over the menu of the t-on-line-Browser "options" - > "process" - > for "deletion".

7. Can one also delete the index.dat files of Internet Explorer?
To directly delete one does not know these files.
However ClearProg offers an option, these files with the Windowsstart "empties".
Over menu "extras" - > "empty InterNet Explorer" the option "index.dat with the Windowsstart" activate and afterwards the Cookies, the Cache and the process of the IE delete (the option can over "file" - > "attitudes store" to be also durably stored).
Now these index.dat files are deleted with the next start by Windows, in addition, produced directly again.
Naturally also contents of the files are then deleted, whereby the file size then also again amounts to 16 and/or 32 KB.

9. Which reset method uses ClearProg for the deletion of the files?
ClearProg offers methods for the deletion of the files freely.
1. normally - the files are simply deleted
2. waste-paper basket - the files are deleted into the waste-paper basket
3. surely - the files are overwritten several times with the deletion

EraseTemp is a utility that automatically deletes old temporary files from your computer. Unlike most other tools that by default delete all the temp files, this one only deletes the ones that are at least a day old (avoiding problems with files that may be needed). If you just run the application it deletes everything older than one day in the Temp folder(s). It looks in you personal Temp folder in Documents and Settings, the Temp folder in the Windows folder and, if present, C: emp. You can also use EraseTemp to delete old files, any number of days old, in any folder. The program also accepts command line parameters and can remove empty subdirectories. EraseTemp deletes files immediately after it is started, recommended for advanced users that want to take advantage of the commandline options.
