A colleague has damaged the screen on one of these laptops and it needs replacing, is this relatively straight forward?  Can't find a service manual online about how to safely dismantle the laptop and there doesn't appear to be any youtube videos either showing how to strip it down.

Thanks

it's like everything it's an art some Toshiba's/asus are easy and some aren't you will need the correct laptop screwdrivers or you will need to get new screws as they are very delicate. you just remove ALL the screws and if you can do that and are careful with prising the plastic parts from the snap in terminals then it's easy but extra care is needed not to break any of the plastic around the screen

any new parts you put in should be correct like for like brand for brand and good luck

a replacement plastic screen surround for example should you break it costs around £40 from Sweden

Hi Matt

long time we could talk. Hope you and your family are doing fine... Like Nick said, a change of a notebook display is bit "delicate" but can get managed. Here a website which offers all kinda spare items of lot notebooks.

Do not wonder, you'll find some prehistorical ones too.

However the video here isn't for the model concerned as it shows removing screws.  Looking at the front of the NP540u3c I can't see anywhere obvioius that you have rubbers covering the screws it appears completely push fit, unless the back of the LED isn't a single piece of plastic.

Easy to search site unfortunately it's not listing the LED panel with this search and I presume the DE version isn't really different to the UK one.

Family fine, is yours?

Thanks.

Hi Matt

sure, there aren't so many differences between a UK or GER panel, except the price. Regards on mentioned website, drop em an email with a request for that panel..... If I am not completely wrong it's a touch screen panel, right? Will keep on searching for vendors over at UK too, kay?

Family is doing fine, lot of traveling as usual (*BG*) and sometimes visiting Milton Keynes ;)

The only place I've found in the UK is here that's got it listed on the web.

Yep it's a touch screen one.  It's a colleagues at works laptop so not sure when they'll get the parts.

Attached is what they've managed to do.
