TuxPaint 0.9.21c - December 27, 2010
? Another minor update for Windows has been released, correcting a Windows 2000 issue that the previous version had. It's also available as both an installer and a stand-alone zipped folder: http://www.tuxpaint.org/

TuxPaint 0.9.21b - December 20, 2010
? Some minor updates were made to the font-loading system that Tux Paint uses, and a minor update to Tux Paint for Windows has been released.

Release Announcement
"Hello, this is Bill Kendrick, lead developer of Tux Paint.
This is just a brief note to let you know that a new version of
Tux Paint for Windows has been released. It corrects an issue
that affected the latest few releases (version 0.9.20 from June 2008
and version 0.9.21 from July 2009).

When Tux Paint is first launched, it can take a very long time for it
to respond while it looks for fonts that it can use on your computer.
Often, this can lead to a warning message stating that Tux Paint
may have crashed. Usually, subsequent launches respond much
more quickly, since Tux Paint already knows about your fonts.

This minor update, version 0.9.21b, should no long appear to have
crashed while searching for fonts. Additionally, the font-gathering
step should take much less time. [*]

It is available for Windows 7, Vista, XP and 2000 as an installer ("setup")
program, which can be downloaded right now, at no cost, from the official
Tux Paint website: http://www.tuxpaint....wnload/windows/

Enjoy, and happy new year!...-bill!

(With kudos to John Popplewell, a contributing volunteer who helps make the Windows version of Tux Paint possible!)

[*] These improvements, plus many other new features, will be included
in the next version of Tux Paint (0.9.22) for Windows, Mac OS X
and Linux. (Linux was unlikely to be affected by the issue, since
fonts were managed outside of Tux Paint.) Unfortunately, there is
no estimated release date for the next version, which is why we
released this minor update for Windows users."

TuxPaint Turns 10!

In June 2002, a friend lamented the fact that there was no kid-friendly paint program for Linux. A few days later, Tux Paint was born!

10 years later, with help from over 300 contributors around the globe, Tux Paint speaks almost 100 languages, runs on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and more, and has been downloaded tens of millions of times.

Schools, libraries and museums around the world use Tux Paint, where it helps students and other children (and adults!) to learn computer skills and art concepts, and to be creative.

Tux Paint is free, and you can download it right now!

And to celebrate our 10th birthday, we held a drawing contest for kids ages 3-12 years. The winning drawing is here: http://www.tuxpaint.org/10/entries/

------------------------

Tux Paint, along with Tux, of Math Command (TuxMath) and Tux Typing, is part of the Tux4Kids project.

It is an award-winning Open Source drawing program aimed at children aged 3 to 12 years old. Tux Paint is available for Microsoft Windows, Linux, Apple Mac OS X, BeOS and other platforms, and has been translated to over 80 languages. It can be downloaded free of charge from the Tux Paint website, or purchased on CDROM from CafePress.

For further information, visit: www.tuxpaint.org and www.tux4kids.com, or contact Tux Paint's lead developer, Bill Kendrik.

The Tux Paint development team is proud to announce Tux Paint 0.9.22, the newest version of the award-winning and completely free drawing program for children.

Thanks to the efforts of nearly 170 contributors worldwide, Tux Paint 0.9.22 offers 14 new magic tools, 40 new template pictures, nearly 200 new stamps, support for SVG and KidPix templates, and an enhanced text tool. It also features accessibility improvements, including keyboard and joystick pointer controls, and an on-screen keyboard.

Tux Paint has always benefited from localization support by volunteers from around the world. Version 0.9.22 is no exception, incorporating translations to 32 new languages: six from Europe (Aragones, Bosnian, Luxembourgish, Serbian, Valencian, and Venetian), over a dozen from the Indian continent (Assamese, Kannada, Konkani, Maithili, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santali, and Sinhala), nine from Africa (Acholi, Akan, Amharic, Bambara, Fula, Kiga, Luganda, Northern Sotho, Sudanese, and Zulu), as well as Armenian, Persian, Sundanese, and the Canadian Inuit language of Inuktitut. Updates were also made to the 90 languages Tux Paint already supported.

Tux Paint is available for download free of charge from the project's website at www.tuxpaint.org.

Version 0.9.22 is currently available for Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Linux, Fedora Linux, and as source code. Updates for Apple Mac OS X, Debian Linux, and Ubuntu are in development.

For a complete list of changes, see the Tux Paint change log, Tux Paint Config. change log, and Tux Paint Stamps change log.
